Heil Sound has introduced two new microphone capsules designed as screw-on replacements for popular handhelds. Think Hurst Shifter for that stock 1956 Chevy and you’d be close. The RC 35 uses the PR 35 1.5″ large diaphragm dynamic element that has been used by Jakob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez and others while the RC 22 utilizes the PR 22 circuitry. Bob Heil explains, “Give credit to Paul Rodgers for pushing this concept. Paul had been using a PR 22 for a series of Bad Company concerts last summer. He loved the sound but needed a wireless for the Queen tour and contacted me. When an artist like Paul Rodgers gives you a call in person and asks for something, you make it happen! Given the chaotic state of the wireless mic industry, I prefer to focus on the front end of the microphone and build great sounding products whether it is a wired Heil mic or a replacement capsule on a wireless.”
