Heil Sound has introduced a new product designed to help customers and dealers compare and evaluate microphones. Named The Comparator Testing Station, this stand-alone device is given free to Heil Sound dealers when packaged with a qualifying introductory order.
The Comparator has eight inputs and holders for eight different microphones, which allows them to be hooked up simultaneously. Each has a switch and indicator light for selecting between inputs, which allows users to listen and compare side by side various combinations of mics on a level playing field.
Two headphone jacks with volume controls are provided as well as an XLR audio output for plugging into a sound system. The attached colorful POP “binder” not only describes all of the Heil Sound models with specs, but also educates the listener on what to listen for when comparing different microphones.
Phil Jost, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Heil Sound says, “One of the greatest challenges when selecting a microphone for purchase is one that should be simple; getting a chance to listen to the mic and compare it to others so to better choose which one performs better for your application. The ‘hang tags’ that other companies provide simply don’t do justice to the process of buying a microphone. You can’t just read about a mic, you need to listen. The Comparator takes up very little floor space and uses headphones to minimize distractions. We are very excited about this program.”
