Adam Jones, guitarist from Tool
"Heil microphones are unbelievable. Bob Heil brought them to the rehearsal studio and we were just blown away by the sound. We've never sounded better. We play pretty loud and the Heil mics simply can't be over driven, from a cymbal crash to close micing a stack. I really like the PR 30 for live vocals as well."
Big Papa and the TCB
"When I put the Fin side by side with the mics we were using, I couldn't believe the difference! The old mic sounded like it had a blanket over it compared to the Fin. The clarity is incredible! Being heard over the band is so much easier now, and becuase of that, I don't end up hoarse at the end of the night anymore. We love these mics so much, we've actually argued with sound men and refused to go on without our Fins! Do yourself a favor and pick up a few of these mics. It'll be the best investment you ever make."
Billy Joe Shaver
"After 30 years of using the same microphone. Now I only use my PR 20."
Dona Oxford
"use my White Pearl with the gold screen FAITHFULLY!!! I love it!! I will never use another mic ever again. I just love how it brings out my mid range!!"
ISIS
"We were first exposed to Heil microphones when we were touring with Tool. They were really excited about them and were kind enough to let us try them. We were immediately impressed! We've been a band for ten years now and tried just about every micing situation possible. I've NEVER heard a better sounding microphone on my drums! The PR20 is the absolute best snare and rack tom microphone and the PR30 kills on the floor tom. We also use the PR20 on vocals, PR30's on guitar and PR40 on bass. As a band who feels very passionately about what we do, we take great pride in working with Heil because it's obvious they feel the same way that we do."
Janet Marlow
"I use the Heil PR 20 for all my live vocal performances! The clarity and capacity of the Heil PR 20 gives me the comfort to vocally travel the range of dynamics to tell the story of a song."
Jon Button
Kathy Coppola from Circle Takes the Square
"I'm using the Heil PR 20 for live vocals. Its the ideal mic for my voice, and our music. Our stage volume is usually pretty loud, and these mics give us a lot of gain without feeding back."
Kittie
"KITTIE uses a variety of the PR Series microphones. We use the PR20's for live vocals, PR30's for guitars and the PR40 for the bass cabinet. When we first hooked up the new microphones we noticed an immediate improvement, especially through our in ear monitors. The microphones are much cleaner and have a great natural sound that will handle very high sound levels than what we were previously using."
La Flavour
"In our 40-year history as a performing act we have not used a finer microphone on stage. The beauty of a Heil mic is that nothing else is needed to make it sound good. We recently added a new FOH console and man did that reveal the weak link in our signal chain. Clean up your sound and go to Heil! "
Santiago Dobles from Aghora
"Heil Pr 30 is hands down the Best Guitar & Tom Mic out there. Heil Mics capture what your tone really sounds like and what you really want to hear!"
The Homesteaders
"Best Mic's we've used yet. We've tried them all, Neumans, Audio Technica's, AKG's etc. Super crystal clear sound with all the sensitivity of a real nice Condenser. A Martin guitar sounds like a Martin guitar! Old Timey Single Mic style without a condenser or ribbon or feedback, who would of ever thought it would be possible with a dynamic mic. Thank you Heil Sound."
The James Gang
"Hey, have known for two years how great these new microphones were - now the whole world is finding it out! -Joe Walsh"
The Twins
"The PR20s are without a doubt the best microphones we have ever used!"
UNEARTH
"PR-40 this mic is all-purpose! Unearth uses the PR-40 for a lot things that through low-end like floor toms, kick, bass and guitar. I've never heard a mic that carries a cleaner 60-200HZ PR-30 Unearth uses the pr 30 for sounds that need a clean top to it. We basically kissed our sm57's away. We love to use this mics on rack toms, overheads, guitars (along side the PR40) for a clean heavy rich tone. PR-20 ken and slo use these mics for back up vocals! These mics are so much cleaner than sure or any other mic you could through at me! I basically threw all my other mics away to use these Heil's....ever since i started using them all my tones have gotten better and easier to find!!! Thank you Heil!!!"

"I'm using the PR-20 on snare, the PR-30 on Guitar amps, and the PR-40 on Bass amps. I'm sure I'll find other uses for them, but we just got them."
Joe Barresi
"I love the PR30 for electric guitar.....its clear and punchy, ,and can be very aggressive too.......a great mic to add to your collection."
John Paterno
"The PR-40 on kick has a great combination of attack and size. Plus, it won't distort the mic pre on loud sources. My new 'go to' kick mic.The PR-20 on a snare gives me the presence I've been missing from other mics I've used in the past. And it takes level without distorting the mic pre. The new Heil mics are highly useful additions to the 'tool box'. The more I use them, the more I like them..."
Kurt Ballou
"I don't use Heil's exclusively, but they do get used regularly, particularly the PR30's. When I'm using them, I typically use PR30's for snare, toms, electric guitar, and bass guitar, PR40's for bass drum, bass guitar, and male vocals, PR20's for hand head vocals or snare drum, and the Handi-Mic for harmonica or for mic-ing up headphones for the "lo-fi" effect. I'm so glad Heil has put out this new line of mics. With the fast-paced aggressive music I record, it's great to have a microphone which combines the urgency of a dynamic, with the speed, clarity, and detail of a condensor. The PR30, in particular, has made my year!"
Russ Long
"Here are my most common uses: PR-20: snare top Handy: snare bottom PR-30: vocals, toms, electric guitar PR-40: kick, electric guitar, bass guitar Heil mics have as much girth as any dynamic that I've encountered but they also have an wonderful sheen typically found in high-end condensers."
Live Sound Engineers
Billy Triplett, FOH
"I've Gone to Heil 'cause I Shure am done!"
Chad Stewart
"Heil PR20: This mic is quickly turning into my all purpose go to mic. It is scary good on snare drums! I used it on the Peter Mayer Tour for Djembe and the low end was HUGE! Heil PR30: This is the baddest guitar mic on the planet in my opinion! Very usable low end. I also used the PR30 as percussion and close overhead sounds with much success! Heil PR40: I put this mic in a Cajon and could alter the path of flying insects! Kick drums and horns watch out there is a new Sherif in town!"
Frank Sass
"I am constantly asked by other engineers and ordinary patrons of the Rutledge "How do you achieve such clarity and definition?". I tell them what Bob Heil told me,"It all starts at the microphone". The PR 40 is the best kick drum mic. I've come across. The PR 30 is so versatile, it is excellent on everything from guitars to ukulele to voice. The PR 20 is an amazing snare and vocal mic."
Justin Sinclair
"I NEVER leave home without my Heil microphones"
Stephen Curtin, FOH
"I use the Heil PR series of microphones because I want a full body, balanced mic that allows me a great deal of control over the instruments and vocals of which require reinforement.""
Broadcasters
Art Bell
"The PR40 is THE BEST mike I have ever used."
Dave Hines, KXUS US 97
"Before you spend any more time tweaking your processing...plug in a Heil Sound mic. You won't believe what you hear."
Leo Laporte
"Nobody ever said anything nice about my voice until I started using this (PR 40)."
Smash
"I use Heil mics in my home studio. These boys are so beyond pro that no one can tell that I'm doing my commercial and radio show production from home. Heil is studio quality...plus!"
Podcasters
Lippo and BigJD
"We both use the Heil PR40. Something important for us as broadcasters or "podcasters" is low frequency response. That's why BigJD & Lippo use Heil PR40's. Aside from a great overall response the bottom cuts through perfectly. We no longer require the condenser mics we used in the past. Heil technology has changed that for us. And if Art Bell uses your PR40 there has to be a reason...... ;-)"
Mark Jensen
"Mics: PR 20's for field interviews and PR 40s for Studio 1A. In Studio1A, we use 3 PR-40's in the main studio. I love the smooth low-end of this mic. It's has a warm sound unlike any dynamic I've ever used."
